Israeli Telemarketing Call Center Controls Payroll Costs with Ingersoll Rand Recognition Systems Biometric HandPunches

More than 250 Employees Clock In and Out with Their Hands

December 12, 2006
CAMPBELL, CALIF. – December 12, 2006 – Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies today announced that DBtell tel Aviv, an Israeli-based telemarketing/call center, is using biometric HandPunch terminals to control access and input time and attendance for more than 250 employees. The HandPunch automatically takes a three-dimensional reading of the size and shape of a hand and verifies the user's identity in less than one second. Biometric readers eliminate the need for employees to carry a badge, thus eliminating the problem of lost or forgotten badges.
“After we noticed eight magnetic stripe cards lying on top of the office Coca Cola machine, we decided to try finding a solution to the buddy punching,” says Uri Bracha, Head of Human Resources at DBtell. “Employees were clocking in and out for each other. Plus all too often, they were also forgetting to bring their cards to work. This created administrative nightmares and costs.”
An integrator, OptiSec, met with management and demonstrated how the HandPunch reader with Da Vinci time & attendance software would effectively eliminate the problem of employees clocking in and out for each other. Plus, the system would also eliminate the need for magnetic stripe cards, which are easily lost or forgotten. Therefore, the system would also reduce the time spent manually correcting missed in and out punches by employees.
“By switching to HandPunch readers, we are saving time and money,” reports Bracha. “We also have much more accurate information about who is working and when. This helps to avoid intentional and unintentional mistakes.”
Being on-line, Bracha can easily check who currently works and what project they are working on at DBtel. All employees can also check their schedules on a daily, weekly or monthly basis without having to go through their Payroll Department.
“This helps to keep better track of and eliminate unauthorized overtime,” continues Bracha. “We can also easily control how many hours we spend on each project.”
OptiSec carefully trained Human Resources in the use of Da Vinci as well as how to use the HandPunch readers. Employees preferred the biometric readers over conventional time clocks, since they are no longer required to carry their magstripe cards for clocking IN and OUT.
Ingersoll Rand Recognition Systems was named a recent recipient of the Application Market Penetration Leadership Award for access control and time and attendance applications in Frost & Sullivan’s study, World Biometrics Market. Website is www.recognitionsystems.ingersollrand.com.
